Le Luquet
Situated in a small hamlet in rural France, Le Luquet offers full board accommodation in a traditional charentaise long house. The holiday accommodation consists of a double bedroom which sleeps 2 adults, with own private bathroom. The living room has a traditional charentaise fireplace with a woodburning stove, for those chilly late autumn evenings. Exposed stone walls and wooden beams give a cosy, restful ambiance. Our library has hundreds of books from contemporary modern fiction, art, politics, philosophy and classic literature. There is a TV with all the free to view english channels, such as BBC and ITV. We have an eclectic music and film library and a DVD player and CD system for your evening entertainment if required. Wifi is available for internet and e-mail access during your stay via our laptop computer. The garden leads directly onto a "chemin de rural" for walking or cycling. The bedroom has minimalist, contemporary cool decor with a small balcony overlooking the garden in the shade of the old horse chestnut tree. It has traditional low beams and laminate flooring. Owners Pete and Angie are experienced vegan and vegetarian cooks, Angie having been born with a lactose intolerance which necessitates creating meals without the use of dairy products.
Pete is an organic gardener, tending our potager style vegetable gardens. Using only natural, organic methods of cultivation. Pete has been a vegetarian for over 20 years. Angie is a working mosaic artist, exhibiting regularly in London and the south of England and running residential mosaic making courses here at Le Luquet. All of our meals are prepared from fresh ingredients everyday. We bake all of our own bread, cakes, pies and pastries using non-dairy soya or sunflower margarines, soya or rice milks and soya cream. We will, of course, provide dairy milk and spreads for those guests who are vegetarian, rather than vegan, along with a selection of the best quality cheeses from the Charente region. For our vegan guests we have a range of alternatives. We always buy organic produce with NO GM ingredients, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
