Haie Barn Vegetarian B&BHaie Barn is a lovely, comfortable home solely for adults where you can get away from it all, relax and make time for yourself to share in our delight in the countryside at the western end of the Golden Valley.
All our bedrooms have colour television with teletext, a radio alarm, and a beverage tray with a wide selection of drinks and a packet of biscuits. Each room is also provided with bathrobes, an electric hairdryer, wash basin and shaver point. The en-suite bedroom with the king-sized bed can also be booked as a twin, whilst the two standard bedrooms have double beds and share a shower room. The FoodOur vegetarian breakfasts are varied and interesting and too good to be kept a secret from those who might normally eat meat dishes, ranging from the more traditional: Free-range egg, tomato, mushrooms, baked beans, To the less ordinary: Home-made buckwheat pancakes with poached apricots, prunes and orange in an orange sauce served with delicious locally produced crème fraîche There is always a choice of at least six main breakfasts using locally produced ingredients whenever possible - our single variety apple juice is a dream, liquid apple as never tasted in a tetra-pack. The choice is yours, everyday, for choice is our watchword - choice ingredients, choice of menu. Vegans and those with special diets are also catered for - just let us know when booking. Things to Do
And after topping up with as much toast with Golden Valley jams, honey or marmalade and tea and coffee as you can consume, the day is yours to explore by foot, car or local transport. Guests have their own sitting area on the first floor with peaceful views through the large windows with books and magazines to read. Or perhaps you would rather sit and watch sheep graze and buzzards catching the thermals over Asper Wood. There are many footpaths in the area and a special pack of walks of various lengths is available for you to use to discover the Neolithic Arthur's Stone; Merbach Hill from which, it is said, six counties can be seen (admittedly on a clear day!); the delightful Dore Abbey; the raw beauty along the fringes of the Brecon Beacon National Park and the pleasant Herefordshire villages and hamlets along the way. By car, the beauty of the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and Radnor Hills await the visitor and details of numerous attractions suitable for all weathers are available in each bedroom. For those who want to leave the car behind there is a regular bus service to Hereford or Hay and Brecon which stops outside the barn. Hereford has its magnificent cathedral with its Mappa Mundi and chained library whilst Hay-on-Wye, approximately four and a half miles away, claims the title of Secondhand Book Capital of the World, and no empty boast either for it is a paradise for those whose interests lie in books or antiques. In the village of Dorstone the 13th century public house provides a wide range of evening meals whilst further eateries can be found in Hay. TariffsPrices include choice of 6 breakfasts.
