Casa Galesa is a small vegetarian-friendly accommodation which is situated 5km from the unspoilt whitewashed mountainside village of Almogia in Andalucia and only 35 mins from Malaga Airport. We offer both B&B and a self-catering cottage with 1 double bedroom, set in an idyllic location of unspoilt natural beauty surrounded by many wild plants and carob, olive, fig and almond trees and bamboo.

The area has been untouched for several years. This year we have been lucky enough to pick our own crop of almonds. The cottage was once used to house animals but has now been renovated to a high standard but with all the existing features remaining.

Breakfast terrace - main house

We have built our home on the top of a mountain overlooking a small valley where during the winter months you will see the stream in flow. We have the 2 B&B rooms in our home and the cottage is just a short walk away. During the summer months you will be able to pick fresh black and green figs from around the cottage to have with your breakfast. We have also planted some new olive trees around our home and have our first fruits on our grapefruit tree.

B&B double room

The cottage has a living/kitchen area a double bedroom with double bed and outside there is a wooden pergola for those warm summer months where you can relax in a hammock and enjoy a drink while the sun sets.

The B&B accommodation has en-suite bathrooms and are tastefully decorated for your comfort, they both overlook the small valley and there is a seating area outside your room for you to relax during the evening if you so wish or you can join us in our porch.

All of our guests have the use of our pool which is situated just outside our front door, there are plenty of areas to sit and relax around the pool, whilst soaking up the sun or just to simply take in the breathtaking scenery. We are surrounded by mountains.

Most days you will see our local goat herder with his flock and dogs walking across the ridge in front of our home. His name is Pepe and occasionally he will bring us some fresh goats milk. Overhead you will see eagles fly over and a myriad of birds flying by. Some have also spent the last few months building their nests and raising their young in our porch: the red rumped swallow, the sparrow and also the blue rock thrush. Our resident fox will also from time to time make an unforgettable appearance, walking casually past our home. We also have 3 dobermans.

Take a walk along the riverbed and check out the wild orchids during the cooler spring months, see the hoopooe, golden oriole, bee-eater and the theklar lark flying by, a sight etched in your mind forever. Wild flowers grow here during the wetter months and take over the landscape: poppies, rock roses, irises to name but a few from my list. Many of the birds and the flowers I have come across I had never heard of before and what a joy to experience them all.

During the evening you can sit in our porch enjoying a drink while the sun sets and then watch the stars appear and light up the surrounding skies, a chill out experience. The surrounding areas are also suitable for those of you who enjoy walking, photography, painting, quad biking, and cycling.

There are also some wonderful places to visit during your stay. The moorish town of Antequera, the wolf park, the pink flamingo park and the man made lakes and gorge of El Chorro are only an hours drive away. Visit the historical city of Malaga, take a trip to the Alhambra Palace in Granada, or visit Cordoba and its history and why not spend the day in Ronda looking down into the gorge steeped with history. You will also find the beautiful lakes of Vinuela and Iznajar well worth a visit, and don't forget to take a look at our local village, small unspoilt and still typically Spanish, so plenty to do during the day or simply just relax and unwind in these tranquil surroundings.

At Casa Galesa we will endeavour to make your time here a memorable one and can offer our vegeterian guests a range of tasty dishes, freshly prepared using produce from the local village market.
